Bushamerica: One more war

There's a war coming, you know. Sure, you'll say, there's always a war around the corner in these days of the GWOT (acronym for global war on terror, as authorized by Bushamerica) - there's civil war coming in Iraq, there's war brewing in Afghanistan, there's trouble in some part of Africa too, I'm sure. But the war that's coming, the one I am talking about, is a war that could well shake the foundations of the world order, and that means, dear India Shinings, a sudden and vicious halt to India's continued march towards American style capitalism. If you put it that way, maybe it’s a good thing. Or it would have been, if so many people would not have to die in the process.
Yes, there's a war coming.
This war, like all wars, is going to be started by the country formerly known as the United States of America. Yes, having screwed two countries, widening its own asshole in the process, Bushamerica now wants to attack and debilitate Iran. People more knowledgeable than I (Fisk, Sy Hersh, Pepe Escobar, Krugman et al) are placing their bets that the Marionette Leader of Bushamerica - George W Bush (variously refered to as Chimp, Commander Codpiece, and Smirky McWarhardon, etc) - is going to soon authorize his military to launch a wave of bombing attacks on Iran. Bushamerica's President of Vice Dick Cheney, the closest thing Earth has seen to Darth Vader, has ordered three aircraft carrier groups to position themselves in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Iran. These aircraft groups carry enough aircraft, missiles, nukes, and bombs to level Iran twice over. He, and the shadowy clique to which he belongs (google ‘PNAC’), have prodded Commander Codpiece to direct his underlings (including the steadily worsening mental case Condelezza Rice) to spread innuendo, rumour, and downright bullshit about how Iran is messing with the US by arming insurgents in Iraq.
Just like in the case of Iraq, they are starting the propaganda campaign to make the American people, slowly awakening now to the nightmare of Iraq, go back to sleep. So that when the bombs fall on Iran, nary a peep would be heard out of the people. Sometime in the next 18 months, there will be some kind of ‘provocation’ by Iran – most likely an ‘attack’ on one of the Bushamerican ships off Iran’s coast – and in response, Bushamerica and Israel will launch a ferocious aerial campaign that will turn Iran into a desolate land pockmarked with mass graves.
This much is certain. But what nobody seems to know is what would happen next. The evil warlords in Bushamerica nurse the fond hope that the bombing campaign will topple the current Iranian regime and usher in ‘democracy,’ and this young democracy will invite Bushamerica to help itself to Iran’s oil resources, and also publicly destroy its nuclear programme and sign a 100-year treaty of peace and friendship with Israel. Of course the holders of this fond hope were the same fools who claimed the Iraqi people would welcome American troops with open arms and pretty flowers. But what is most likely to happen is this –
Iran retaliates to the bombing raids by unleashing their stock of surface to sea missiles at super tankers and other oil-bearing ships in the Straits of Hormuz. The straits are so narrow, the damage to ships would block off the straits from the open sea. Nothing could go in, and nothing could get out. The latter is of particular interest to us. Because if nothing gets out, where will we get our oil from? More than 50% of the world’s oil is exported from ports along the Straits of Hormuz. With the narrow channel blocked by Iranian missiles, 50% of the world’s oil is going to get locked in. You think a litre of petrol at 43 bucks is awful? How about if its 100 bucks a litre?
This is not some stupid strategy game I have cooked up. People more knowledgeable than I say so. Blocking off the Straits of Hormuz is the easiest way for Iran to debilitate the world economy, resulting in an outcry that would force Bushamerica to pay for its aggression. China and Russia are already grumbling about Commander Codpiece’s hard on for war with Iran. In fact, in the event of an American attack on Iran, I fully expect China, and especially Russia, to rush weapons and logistical support to Iran. That has its own dangerous implications.
As for India, from what I read in the media, people still think George W Bush is a rational and sane man. The media here is light years behind the rest of the world in understanding the Bush Agenda. Consequently, we all know which celebrity is marrying what businessman, but we don’t know the amazing fact that Bush in effect staged a coup when he was appointed President of the USA in 2000.
India’s going to do what it always does when confronted with foreign policy crises - look like a startled deer and then follow the crowd to wherever it is going.
